Vitamins and Minerals
Vitamins and minerals help build and repair tissues. They are involved in regulating every bodily function, including the conversion of food to energy. If you are an active person, it is almost impossible to meet your body’s requirements for optimal functioning through food intake alone (without dramatically increasing your calories, which would make it very difficult to lose fat). Therefore, it is highly recommended to supplement with a good vitamin and mineral formula.
Water
Water is the single most abundant nutrient in our bodies. It is also one of the most important and overlooked. Water performs three main functions that are essential for life: 1) it acts as a metabolic regulator, carrying nutrients to cells and eliminating waste; 2) it gives the body structure and form; and 3) it helps to provide a stable body temperature.
Water also suppresses the appetite naturally and helps the body metabolize stored fat. Studies show that a decrease in water intake will cause fat deposits to increase, while an increase in water intake can actually reduce fat deposits.
You should drink approximately two to three quarts of water daily. Additionally, you should consume approximately eight ounces of water for every 25 pounds above your ideal body weight.
